Prof. Dr. M. Kamal Uddin has worked in the field of research and development (R&D), new product development, technology transfer, technology and innovation management particularly with reference to the SME, innovation and intellectual property (IP) policy and strategies in Bangladesh over a span of 22 years.

He started his professional career as an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Appropriate Technology (IAT), Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET) and he rose to become the Director of Institute of Appropriate Technology, BUET in 2005 and he has been a teacher at post graduate level and researcher for 35 years. He is a Senior Advisor of Centre for Policy Research, Bangladesh.
